If you’re looking for a way to create a Canvas quiz from QTI files, follow the steps outlined in this post.
To import quizzes to Canvas, you need a special type of ZIP file, which is called a Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) package. It contains assessment data in XML format and associated multimedia content.
Creating a QTI package from scratch is difficult due to formatting requirements. So you’ll often need specialized software to generate the files or convert your existing assessment. That may not be ideal for your workflow, especially if you often work with Excel, CSV, and Doc files.
There’s a solution that can make the process almost effortless. Almost.
If you create your questions with Monsha’s Quiz Questions Generator or Reading Comprehension Question Generator, you don’t have to worry about formatting or converting your files at all. You’ll be able to export a Canvas-ready QTI package any time, with a single click.
Just a note. Your assessment questions will also be automatically compatible with platforms like GimKit or Socrative.
Once you’re on Canvas, navigate to Settings and choose ‘Import Course Content’. From the drop-down menu, select the QTI .zip file option as Content Type.
Choose your properly formatted ZIP file or Monsha-provided QTI package.
That’s it. You can configure Canvas-provided options however needed. Once the quiz is created, use it in your classroom.
With Monsha, you can quickly generate different types of assessment questions. After creating the resources, you’ll be able to export them in your preferred format. Just select “Download for Canvas”, and you’ll receive your ready-to-use QTI package.
